Love the food. Love the staff. Great spanish place

Love the authenticity of food and decor. The shrimps "Galicienne" were to die for, and the octopus was one of the best I've had in a long time. I recommend it, it's a well-hidden gem in a street filled with more commercial eating places.

Horrible tourist trap. Food (what little of it there was) was terrible and manager/owner is very rude. Apparently he's never heard the expression "the customer is always right". He made 0 effort to correct 4 wrong dinners, and acted like how dare I even question the food. I've had many great dinners in QC but this was a disaster.

Good food, nice place!

Great and generous tapas

Disappointed. How can a Spanish restaurant get paella wrong? Tons of uncooked rice and barely enough meat and fish in the dish. I couldn’t finish. My friends fish was over cooked oil, but he didn’t complain. $$$

We stumbled into this restaurant on our last day in Quebec. Seemed a lovely place with a friendly lady at the door but the experience was a disaster. Served with stale and burnt bread and cold soup, the waiter suggested paella which was way tooooo salty & hard. The fish tasted funny too, but enough for that. It took the waiter a long time to bring our bill despite I told him that we need to leave soon for the airport. Finally he came over and told us, "we have a problem," that they suddenly can't take credit cards and we had to pay cash. We didn't have enough cash or the time to find an ATM, and the waiter insisted that we pay USD 1 to 1 because "that's how it works". For the entire time he was not apologetic at all and rather rude as if we caused him the problem. How lucky it's located just outside the tourist packed old Quebec so that it can keep attracting uninformed people who have to tolerate the awful food and service!

We happened upon the restaurant while in Quebec City. Wonderful dinner, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely go again.

The worst restaurant. Honestly we waited 35 min after ordering to get the soup, and the soup was terrible, burned . So the manager proposed to give us free dessert instead of the soup. We asked specifically for the paella without porc and of course they didn’t took that in consideration. After 1h23min we go home hungry and angry.Don’t go there !Terrible service.

We were walking trying to find somewhere to eat, when a lady the (hostess) started explaining their menue she made everything sound so good, at first we walked on but then decided to go back. I had the bbq ribs and Fries and a side salad, my husband had a seafood Pasta dish which was great, too. Everything we ordered was great. The service was good also. Our friends also loved everything they ate. The portion sized were very large, we walked away very pleased that we had gone back. None of us drink so it was nice to be seated away from the bar. The atmosphere was quiet and we started talking to the couple at the next table, which was from Argentina, They were very nice and were enjoying the food there as well.

The food was terrible, not worth the money. If you have any allergies or do not eat a certain food, do not come here. No matter what they say a the front desk, almost everything has meat, allergens or even "vegetarian" food is cooked in DUCK FAT. Not many options for chicken fish and other white meat, and even that's horrible. The service was great and waiters were polite, and that is the only reason why this review is not getting zero stars.

Delicious shrimp tapas. Carrot soup. Mmmmm. Good service. Excellent place in old Quebec.

Delicious! Mussels the best. Perfect paella. A wonderful surprise and perfect ending to a long day. Excellent service

Not spectacular but very good. My wife had bass with chorizo and my son had pasta with a rose crem sauce and veggies. Everything was fresh with fairly simple and good flavors.

Sadly, the seafood paella was a bit salty, and worse, had sand in it.

A woman called us over to tell us about the menu as we walked past, and it sounded good to us. (I should note 3 of 4 of us are Spanish speakers, and everyone in the group has traveled extensively in the Spanish speaking world.) The woman told us the staff inside spoke Spanish, which clearly wasn't true because the waiter couldn't understand a basic question in Spanish. We ordered in English, after which the waiter asked if we knew what "albóndigas" were. What? We were the ones speaking Spanish. The tapas were very basic, but well prepared. After the meal we wanted to pay with cash, and told the waiter we wanted change, holding on to the cash for the tip to give him later. He walks back and snidely asks if we understand tipping. Again, what? We're American--we overtip all over the world! We didn't even have our jackets on. I don't know what was going on with the waiter, but his attitude made it hard for us to recommend the place.

I had a gazpacho with a seafood paella. The gazpacho was good, was missing a little olive oil, but good. The paella was cooked good, its not easy to make a good paella... Rice was cooked just right. The shrimps, scallops and mussels were good, but I found the lobster tail a bit small. Service was ok, I sat at the counter. Overall experience was good.

Food OK but not outstanding. House paella bland but should be spicier since it had chorizo sausage. Was expecting lobster meat in the seafood pasta but only got lobster sauce. Choco mousse and coffee very good. Good spanish wine by the glass. Reasonable value table d'hote.

I don't know about the last post, but I must say I totally disagree. I would say it seems like incredible bad luck, but the extreme of the situation almost makes it seem untrue.Anyhow, my numerous experiences at the Copas have been excellent. The quality-price ratio is among the best I know. The service is great (Ok, maybe knowing the people after the years of going there helps), but I know that the vast majority of clients are happily served. And what to say about the food, awesome and authentic Spanish! I highly recommend this place.Cheers,Daniel

This is the second time we visited this place and we found the food and service to be exceptional. The dish we ordered had plenty of seafood which was filling. Copas is one of my favorite restaurant to visit when I am in Quebec City.

It was our first time having dinner at this Restaurant and we all came home feeling sick, and shocked from the rude service. We are usually not the type of people to complain but the bad service started off with my mother in law`s lamb dish which was served cold. At the same time my husband had a few bites of the tilapia and it was clear that the fish was off. He eventually threw up a little later at the restaurant...What seemed to be the owner reacted arrogantly and did not apologize once. I usually keep these things in but I have to complain about this experience. Im still pretty shaken up from it... We do not recommend this restaurant.

Was surprised that authentic Spanish food would be so inexpensive, but you soon realize why they shouldn't charge more. On a Thursday evening, they barely filled 5 tables with guests. I ordered the paella and I must say, I have never eaten crunchy mussles in my life. The waitress overcharged us, insulted my American spouse by demanding to know how come an American could speak several languages, and forgot the dessert that was included with the meal. Disappointed I chose this restaurant for an anniversary dinner...

Dinner for 5 was excellent and a great end to our Carnaval 2020 experience. Steak was done to perfection. Paella, just exquisite. Seafood pasta was creamy and rich. The kids meals were a hit too. The pasta sauce tasted so fresh and the ribs were too good to share, so must take her word that they were "delicious". The staff was friendly and accomodating for our non-french speaking family. And the atmosphere was warm and inviting despite the cold outside.Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

Insanely mediocre food. Slow service. Paid $24 for a single, small chicken breast that wasn't juicy at all with a side of Ol Del Paso tasting boxed rice that was room temperature. Someone else that I was with ordered a medium rare steak and it came back extremely rare. If you enjoy being disappointed, this place is a 5 out of 5 for you.

Great food and lots of it. Craft beers. Reasonable pricing for location. Attentive staff. Clean washrooms, which are downstairs, opposite side to kitchen. Nicely stocked bar.

This Grand Allee restaurnat has a nice patio. The food is outstanding. We ordered appetiser sampler, checken with galirc, and a lamb dish- each were very delicious. The service was impecable.
